Looking for 2 Beta Testers

I am now looking for 2 beta tester who can help me test the developing version of my iPhone app. The requirements are:

  • Daily iPhone User – iPhone should be the only phone you carry and use daily
  • You located in HK
  • NOT using 3HK service – Because I like to test more operator and I already have few 3 Users helping me
  • With Wireless Data Plan
  • You have basic computer knowledge and able to manage iTunes

Normally a testing build will be prepared for you when it is almost finish. The duty is simple, just play the app! And report if there any abnormal behavior found. Some thing to remind, if you like to suggest function, you are always welcome even you are not a beta tester. Beta tester focus on the testing of the reliability of the implemented function.

Also, if there any demand during the testing, data or hardware, I don’t have any compensation for you. Suppose it will not happen, but I have to mention it first.

One last time, please keep everything confidential. e.g. don’t tell others, “I got Jeffery’s new app, and it suck”. :)

Interested friends please send email to me, jeffery.wong@conceptable.net with 1 – For sure, your name 2 – A little, just a little about yourself 3 – Which iPhone you are using 4 – Which operator and data plan you are using 5 – Will you use wifi, when and where 6 – Jailbreak or not

Thank you very much first.

I hope you all Enjoy

So, Enjoy~

iTunes Download Link

One more thing, “Closer”

Limitations/Bugs of making call through SDK

Edit Before Call make use of the “openURL” function in the SDK to make call from a native app. However, it seems only providing incomplete support for daily phone usage.

One of the problems major is, that function does not support phone number with “,” “*” “#”. The function accepts the phone number with those charaters, report “YES” (success) and then do nothing.

The same problem also happens when you click on the phone link in the Mobile Safari. It seems that it is a bug in the openURL function. As a SDK for a mobile phone but providing this kind of phone support. It really disappointed me.

Some notes about the download figure. Most of the download now come from HK, and US. Can you guess who is the 3rd? It is Italia.

I think the HK Weather really give me a lot friends. They are willing to try my app. It is really an unexpected effect. (But remember read the description carefully before purchase, I hope you all can be a happy user.)

iPhone Edit Before Call

Updated 22 Nov: Phone number with “,” now supported in iPhone Firmware 2.2. Edit Before SMS support also added.

Yep. This is my 2nd iPhone App, Edit Before Call (撥號前編輯 in Chinese), just released in the App Store (iTunes Link). You can get it for USD 0.99 now.

This is a little tools to allow you edit the number before you make the call. Normally this function available in traditonal phone, but I don’t still doesn’t provide it officially. So I build it, as a temporary solution. I hope people who need to make international call (IDD) will found this app is useful for them.

Feature: - Edit before you make the call - Remember last prefix added - Remember last number dial

** Limitation ** - “Edit Before Call” only read the number from Saved Contacts, “Recent Call” of iPhone IS NOT supported - Phone Number with “#” is not supported (Updated: “#” “,” “*” are not supported, caused by the limitation/bugs in iPhone SDK)

“Edit Before Call”

Another App(s)

Just submitted another Helloworld App. This time I like to use this small toy to try the paid app machanism. Hope it can get Apple’s approval.

And the 3rd one, the one I am writing, is the app I plan to build from day one. The Weather and the 2nd App just use to try out the process and make me familiar with the SDK. About the 3rd one, maybe it is not a useful app for all the people, but personally I like to have it in my iPhone.

Weather 2.0 released (2.0.1 planning)

Version 2.0 just released! Feel free to update it and send me feedback my friend.

001 002 003 004

Actually the 2.0 has few issues found after the submission, but because of the time needed to wait for the review process, I still like to release the 2.0 and fix them in the 2.0.1.

One of the issue is, the line “Information provided HKO” is missing!!! I think I delete it with the image in the about page together. So careless I am. The information of Hong Kong Weather 2.0 still provide by the HKO with authorization! I will add the line back later.

Another issue is, the small icon used in 7 days forecast is not easy to read and compare each other. It is my fault because I build them in 3 separate day and haven’t make them display together on phone. I will prepare a revised set in the 2.0.1 with clear differences between the day with rain/cloud.

One last thing, just a reminder, 2.0 now with detail information about the warning in force. But, the chart of the typhoon still not ready to use.

I hope you all enjoy this update. Comments are always welcome.
